HangoverStan is built to work for everyone. That includes people who use screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, or other assistive tools. This page explains what we do to make that happen.
Our Goal
We want every visitor to have a good experience here, no matter their ability. That means pages that work with the tools people rely on.
We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA—widely used guidelines for web accessibility. They cover four main areas:
- Perceivable: Content is shown in ways users can take in
- Operable: Every feature can be used without a mouse
- Understandable: Content and navigation make sense
- Robust: The site works with current and future assistive tools
We’re also aware of Section 508 and apply it where it fits.
What We’ve Built In
Keyboard Navigation
You can move through the entire site using only a keyboard. Tab moves you forward. Focus markers show where you are at all times. Skip-nav links let you jump past menus straight to the main content.
Screen Reader Support
We use clean HTML so screen readers can follow the page structure. Images have alt text. Links have descriptive text so you know where they go. ARIA labels fill in where standard HTML falls short.
Visual Design
Text and background colors meet WCAG contrast ratios. Text scales up without breaking layouts. We never use color alone to convey meaning. Fonts are clean and easy to read at all sizes.
Content Structure
Headings follow a clear order so screen readers can jump by section. Lists are properly coded. Tables include headers and captions where used.
Mobile
The site is fully responsive. Touch targets are sized for easy tapping. Screen readers on iOS and Android are supported.
How We Test
We run automated scans to catch common issues. We also do manual tests using keyboard-only navigation and screen readers including JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, and TalkBack.
We check color contrast and text scaling across Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. When users report problems, those reports become part of our testing process too.
Known Gaps
We try to be upfront about where we fall short:
- Third-party content: Some embedded content may not meet our standards
- Older posts: Some older articles may not fully reflect current guidelines
- Dynamic features: Some interactive elements are still being improved
We’re working through these issues over time and prioritize fixes that affect the most users.
Reporting a Problem
If something on the site is hard to use, we want to know. Email us at john@hangoverstan.com with the subject line Accessibility Issue.
It helps to include:
- The page URL where the problem occurred
- What you were trying to do
- What tool or browser you were using
- A brief note about the problem
We aim to respond within two business days. High-impact issues get fixed first. Your feedback helps make the site better for everyone.
